International Exchange Program

Exchange Program
"Exchange students" refers to students who have been selected to study at AGU by a university that has a student exchange agreement with AGU. Tuition fees for exchange students at AGU are basically waived.
2.AGU's Exchange Student Program
In principle, exchange students at AGU can take any courses at any of the colleges that they wish, in addition to the compulsory courses of Japanese language, Japanology and Japanese culture and society. In this way, exchange students can take classes among Japanese students and enjoy university life. In fact, exchange students who studied at AGU in the past made friends with many Japanese students, and through their association with them, improved their proficiency in Japanese while deepening their understanding of Japanese culture.
3.Period of Study at AGU
In principle, the period of study at AGU shall be one year beginning from April. However, exchange students may be permitted to study at AGU for only the first semester (from April to July) or second semester (from September to January) through arrangements with their university.
4.Applications
Exchange student candidates should submit their applications through the International Office of their university. Students eligible for application are those whose GPA is higher than 2.5, who have taken a Japanese language course for more than one year and are highly evaluated by an instructor of Japanese at their university. Exchange students are required to take at least 28 credits at AGU annually. IEC will, on behalf of the students, apply to the Tokyo Immigration Bureau Student Division for the "Certificate of Eligibility."
