Actions concerning the Novel Coronavirus infection (COVID-19)

 

As reported in recent news, infection from the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been discovered in Japan as well. Due to the observed increase in the spread of infection, the International Center will take the actions below.

 

■For international students currently residing in China, planning to enter Japan.

With consideration of the incubation period of the Novel Coronavirus, please be in Japan at least 2 weeks before any events you will participate in. Be sure to strictly monitor your health, and refrain from going out for unnecessary and non-urgent matters for 2 weeks (the incubation period). If you have a fever, or cannot stop coughing, please contact the nearest public health center and the university immediately.

〈Those going to graduate〉

Wednesday, March 25: Commencement・・・enter by Tuesday, March 10

⇒Aoyama Gakuin University has decided to cancel the commencement ceremony.
A presentation of certificates will now take place on the same date (March 25).

Instructions will be announced to students via the Student Portal by March 13, 2020.

Thursday, March 26~: Orientation for attending students・・・enter by Wednesday, March 11

※We understand that there may be unavoidable delays, for example in receiving visas, but please make arrangements according to the schedule above.

※The dates listed above are the final deadlines only. We strongly recommend that you enter Japan earlier.

※The date for events may change according to the circumstances of the spread of infection. Be sure to regularly check the university’s website.

■For international students who have been to Hubei or Zhejiang Province within 14 days before entering Japan, or who own a Chinese passport that was issued in Hubei or Zhejiang Province.

■For international students who have been to Teagu City or Cheongdo-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do (Korea) within 14 days before entering Japan (NEW)

Currently, the Japanese government is restricting the entrance of international visitors who have been to Hubei or Zhejiang Province within 14 days before entering Japan, or who own a Chinese passport that was issued in Hubei or Zhejiang Province.

In addition, the Japanese government is also restricting the entrance of international visitors who have been to Taegu City or Cheongdo-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea, within 14 days before entering Japan.

Those international students who currently reside in China or Korea and fall under the above category, please immediately notify the international center.

 

■Report to the University

The Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been stipulated by the Japanese government as a “designated infectious disease” and is regarded as a “Class I Infectious Disease” in the School Health and Safety Act. If by any chance you have been diagnosed as infected with the disease, or are suspected of being infected, please immediately notify the Health Administration center (03-3409-7896) of the University and refrain from coming to the university until you receive permission to do so from your doctor.

 

■Infection Prevention

There is a possibility that the infection will spread further in the future, and it is also the flu season, so please do your best to prevent infectious diseases by washing your hands, performing cough etiquette, and gargling.
